The follow up vintage to our recent award winner is another hit. Over 50% of the Cabernet grapes for this vintage came from our Estate in the Santa Cruz Mountains with the remainder from the Pedregal vineyard in Paicines. Though the two vineyards are very similar in climate and grape growing philosophy, the subtle differences are what really make the two a perfect match. Combined with a small amount of Merlot from the Regan vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this wine is a balance of fruit, herbs, mild tannins, coffee and a hint of smoke. Already in the bottle one year, this vintage is just now coming into its prime and will drink well for another 3-5 years.
Our second public release of this Tuscan mainstay is another winner full of ripe fruit and toasted oak and sure to be an instant sellout. This wine is 100% Sangiovese from our Estate vineyard and was harvested on two different dates at the peak of ripeness before being aged in oak for 16 months. With only a few months of bottle age, this wine is already proving to be a real hit. Ready to drink now but it will also age well for a few more years. With less than seventy cases released to the public, get this one now before it is all gone. There is a 6 bottle limit on this release.
100% varietal fruit from our Estate vineyard, this wine is complex with firm tannin, good acid balance and strong backbone. The nose is full of violets, herbs and plum with toasty oak undertones. It was harvested the last week of October and went through a very long fermentation process before resting in oak for 30 months. Like all great wines made from this grape, it will need a few years of bottle aging to each its full potential. There is a 3 bottle per order limit on this wine.
Merlot has taken some knocks lately but not our 2004 vintage. Rich and complex like Cabernet and spicy like a Zinfandel, this is one Merlot that will surely surprise you. Aromas of caramel, vanilla and spice are perfectly matched with the vibrant cherry, currant and blackberry flavors that fill the palate. This wine is ready to drink now and will age nicely for several years.
